Returned to the Thorns
It is wonderous to know the teaching of the Scriptures. Yet, the process of understanding the Scriptures is not always pleasant. Chastening must take place to guide us. Sometimes that chasten is spiritual and sometimes it takes place in our "earthen vessels". We will deal with this a little later in talking about the "torn in the flesh" that Paul mentioned.
First the Scriptures. Here are two verses from a letter Paul writes to his own "son" in the faith Timothy
2Co 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
You will notice that Paul appeals to God's creation act of commanding "light to shine" in darkness and then allegorically concludes/connects the greater light necessary in our lives. Jesus Christ. The lesser light of creation yielding to the greater light of Jesus Christ
Then we read the very purpose of God in creation and our current condition Adam shared from the beginning.

Having previously read the thread I stated here in this forum about jealousy....

You might come away thinking that God is a real.... "egomaniac". However you would be very wrong......Yet that is exactly the type of god most religions present today. A God that is a real egomaniac.
I know because I have come to learn that God Himself suffered in this same life and condition we too suffer. God humbled Himself and took upon Himself Adam's incompleteness. (Yet complete in the Hypostatic Union) and suffered death for us. Not just death/dying but the entire process/experience of being subjected to death.
He shared in our innocence. He shared in our lack of understanding. He shared in our human condition. The same form as Adam. In this, God proved to us His intent in creation. To show Adam and the descendents of Adam what it is to be like Him. Completely like Him (yet still absent His heavenly power over all things).
The image of God is complete in Jesus Christ. King of kings and Lord of lords..... We shall share in the complete image of God in Jesus Christ. Again in love..... God humbled Himself for us.
God designed this life for Adam and his descendents to know the love of God in Jesus Christ. Such requires a process. Time.....
Now I know it is difficult for some of you to "swallow" what I'm saying. Some of you don't even want to "taste of it" by starting to believe it. (consume/eat it)
Here. Let me prove it from the Scriptures that Adam wasn't completely in the image of God.....
Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Notice how it was not good that Adam was alone.
Alone before what Protestants and Roman Catholics alike teach about the fall of Adam.
Adam was incomplete in creation. Adam needed Eve. We are not complete without EACH OTHER..... our OWN Relationships.....I could say much more but lets start here....
Do you get it? Do you get how Adam was a work in progress? This is exactly what Jesus Christ is referenced as the "second Adam". Completing what Adam lacked.
Now. Lets deal with what Adam was and what Christ shared in.....
Paul's thorn in the flesh.... (Paul is not alone in this problem. Even children experience the torn of the flesh.)
Let us read the Scriptures...
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Remember what happened previously. Adam was taken from dust and PLACED in a garden.
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Here, Adam is returned to where the "dust"... the very thing we are made of.... came from.
This flesh we have came from thorns. The "thorn" I see is the very flesh itself. The weakness that hinders us and humbles us. Notice how Paul talks of this "vile body".......
Php 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Php 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Was Adam crafted in heaven? The answer all of you know.... is NO. He wasn't crafted in heaven. Adam was formed from the dust of the earth.
Ashes.... (Remnants of destruction.)
Gen 18:27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
As we age and as Adam aged without having access to the tree of life, we experience the waning corruption that comes to take our bodies to the grave. Getting saved doesn't stop this process. It just makes the treasure of God become more real to us in this body we live. We look for a new body. A body Adam never had until after he dies.....
Thank God for His infinitely wise council. We have nothing without God. Nothing. We have received from God's own hands our entire lives. How dare we pretend we are something/anything without Him.......
Psa 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
Side note.....(You Calvinist have really perverted the concept of from "my mother's womb"......) Our bodies come from our mother's womb......
