Is the Sword sharp or not?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive, effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, cutting to the point of dividing soul and spirit, joints from marrows, astutely judging the thoughts and intents of our human heart.

Is the "Word of God" sharp or not?

There is no scenario wherein the "Sword" isn't sharp. It cuts. It always cuts.

I believe sometimes Calvinists tend to downplay the power of the sword. Even when the fool rejects the Gospel.... he goes away wounded.

I'm a retired meat cutter, I was an apprentice in the early '70s. And I had a great mentor named Joe. Everything I learned from him I found to be true. One of the things that he taught me is that a dull knife blade is more dangerous then a sharp one to the one who is wielding the blade. With a sharp blade everything goes as planned. With a dull blade mishaps can easily happen.

So in this scenario a good understanding of God's word is the sharp blade. Does what it's supposed to do. A poor understanding of God's word or misconception of God's word is like a dull blade. That's one of the reasons I'm so appreciative of good teachers of the word. And it absolutely amazes me how easily people can be hoodwinked into teachers like Jim Jones or David Koresh.

God does not mess around with a dull sword; it shall accomplish its work.
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
