field theory if you mean physics is a study ofAnyone attending either ETS (Evangelical Theological Society) Annual Meeting in November? I am presenting a paper on the Pharisees in Acts using a field theory model.
I have some fine-tuning to do, but it is an interesting approach to evaluating conflict.
Field theory in sociology, field theory if you mean physics is a study of
this reality - not made by God
What field theory do you mean?
Field theory is a methodology that can be used to study Scripture. Most methodologies are rooted in secular works. For example, many commentaries, like Jewett's commentary on Romans, use Lloyd Bitzer's model of the rhetorical situation to establish why Paul wrote the letter.Alright... I see it has nothing to do with God.
I don't assume any exegesis. Nor would others' agreements over centuries bear any iota to me of importance.Field theory is a methodology that can be used to study Scripture. People often assume that there is some special Christian discipline for exegesis. I fully believe in the inspiration of Scripture and on hearing it from its own context. But that means I need to use every tool available for understanding it rightly. It is my commitment to the Word of God that makes me seek out ways of understanding it.
