Derek - Way

Do you know why Jesus said He was "the way"? well, the Hebrew word for "way"
is derek, which refers to the path you are on, or the way you are going.
This is a word often used as a spiritual metaphor for how you live your life, because
every choice we make is a path, or a derek that we take in our life. When you make
good decisions, your path leads to good places. When you make bad decisions,
your derek can lead to dangerous places. The good news is that whatever direction
your decisions have taken you, God can redirect you.

And when Jesus said He was "the way," He was letting His followers know that He
would walk ahead of us, showing us the we should live. Every person who calls themselves
a disciple of Jesus is called to follow in His footsteps and walk in His ways, interestingly,
the first time derek is used in Scripture is during the Garden of Eden story in Genesis 3 :24,
when God says that He will guard the "way" back to the tree of Life. When Jesus said He
is "the way and the truth and the life," He was saying that He is the way back to the tree of
Life---to fellowship and to eternal life with God for everyone who believes in Him!

So I wonder---have you made the decision to follow Jesus and let Him lead you as you
choose your paths, day in and day out, instead of trying to determine your own destiny?
How would that change the decisions you make?

Shalom

Jesus didn't "SHOW US" the WAY. He IS the way.

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Jesus is God's word made flesh, so what he said in John 14 should be understood as being in accordance with embodying God's word, not in contrast with it. God's law is His way (Psalms 119:1-3), the truth (Psalms 119:142), and the life (Deuteronomy 32:46-47), and the way to see and know the Father (Exodus 33:13), and Jesus embodied the way, the truth, and the life, and the way to see and know the Father through his works by setting a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to God's law (John 14:6-11).

If you read the Bible and don’t find Jesus, go back and re-read. It is His story. It shows who He is by the way He Lived, and by dyeing for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He (God the Father) made Him who knew no sin (Jesus) to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Because Jesus loves us, He came born of a virgin, lived a sinlessly perfect life, and died the death we should have so that we could trade our sin for His righteousness and receive the gift of salvation.

Jesus is God's word made flesh
meaning that he, and he alone is God.
so what he said in John 14 should be understood as being in accordance with embodying God's word, not in contrast with it.
see above.

the WAY is what God require...... right? well lets see what that is. scripture, Micah 6:8 "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" is this correct? and did not God in flesh show us that, according to the gospel witness? and two, this is God LAW written on our hearts? yes. supportive scripture, Romans 2:14 "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:"

in much G.L.
