One topic which we should all consider is how to challenge the new atheism.
Call it “ materialism” “ scientific realism” “humanism”, they all shades of scientism.
it is taught everywhere in media even in some classrooms that
1/ Life is a chemical accident.
2/ The first life evolved with no need for intelligent design to present life
3/ The pathway to present life is more or less known
4/ Consciousness is just a chemical process.
5/ Death is the end.
6/ There is no absolute moral code,
7/ Moral code is behaviour Evolved to improve survival
8/ The universe is a product of scientific laws
9/ Anything “unexplained” by science soon will be
10/ So no need for supernatural ,
11/ Bible is a book of fables
12/ religion is for the intellectualy weak
13/ No such thing as miraculous
So might as well enjoy yourself
Dawkins has a lot to answer for!
1/-2/ has little evidence despite the hype
3/ is actually false
4/ 5/ runs counter to present evidence.
8/ 9/ are a misunderstanding of what science is , indeed the absolutes of science are easily challenged in higher physics
so 10/ is a false paradigm
11/ has historical evidence
12 / many clever people are believers
13/ lots of evidence. Although cures are not helpful, because of the narrative discounting them.
But how do we persuade the young when much of the argument Is so arcane?
You cannot quote the Bible with those who don’t accept it,
So evidence disproving 4/ and affirming 13/ helps. to start the discussion.
Making a relationship is a clear step in the process.
But please all add thoughts??
